Connect apps

Connect the apps you use every day, like email, calendar and notes, and your agent can read what it needs and turn it into watches, library items and documents. Connections are in beta and more apps are on the way.

Where to connect

  • Connections page: Connections at the bottom of the left sidebar. You'll find your connected apps, recommendations and all apps by category. Search by app name or by what you want done (for example "meeting notes").
  • Composer: the plug button at the bottom left of the message box lists your connected apps and a few popular ones you can Connect right away.
  • In chat: when you ask your agent for something that needs an app you haven't connected, it shows a connect card explaining what you'll get and what access it needs. Tap Connect, finish signing in, and you land back in the same conversation where your agent picks up where it left off, so you don't have to ask again. Not interested? Tap Not now (it won't suggest the app for a while) or Don't suggest again.

Connect an app

  1. Tap Connect on the Connections page or on a connect card;
  2. Sign in on the app's authorization page and approve access (the page may show our connection provider);
  3. You're sent back to waper. The app's page shows which account is connected and what it can do for you next.

A few apps (such as Readwise) connect with an access token instead: paste the token in the dialog, which links to where you can find it. Tokens are stored encrypted and only used for what you turn on.

If authorization doesn't finish (you cancelled, or the link expired), the Connections page tells you why. Just tap Connect again.

After you connect

Each app's page shows:

  • What it can do for you: features you can turn on or off, such as merging the newsletters in your inbox into one daily brief. Once on, they run on schedule.
  • What it can access: what your agent may read or do in that app.
  • Where your data goes: what waper keeps. As with everything else, only summaries and links to the original, never the full text.
  • Account and usage: the connected account, when it was last used, and today's actions.

You can also ask your agent to use the app for anything else in chat, for example "any important email today?"

What each app does

App What you get Access
Gmail A daily newsletter brief; a summary and to-dos as soon as the people you pick write Read mail and labels, write drafts, organize labels; never sends
Google Calendar A brief the evening (and morning) before meeting outside people Read events; create or edit events on your own calendar, asks before inviting anyone or deleting
YouTube Subscriptions become a private video watch; videos added to a chosen playlist are transcribed and summarized Read subscriptions and playlists; create private playlists, add videos, subscribe; never comments, uploads or deletes
Notion Export briefs and documents under a page you choose; pages shared with waper land in your library Read the pages you authorize; create pages and add content under the chosen page; asks before archiving or deleting
Readwise Kindle and Reader highlights land in your library daily; save articles to Reader Read highlights and Reader documents, save articles; never deletes
Slack Key points and to-dos from the channels you pick every evening, optionally sent to you as a DM Search and read messages you can see; posts as waper only when you ask, and asks before messaging someone new
Outlook Newsletter brief, important mail and meeting briefs (same as Gmail and Google Calendar) Read mail and events, write drafts, organize; create events on your own calendar; never sends
Granola Meeting notes and summaries land in your library Read-only
GitHub A daily developer brief (releases, issues and PRs, with review requests called out); starred repos become release watches Read-only; GitHub's consent page lists broader permissions, but waper never writes or comments
Google Drive New PDFs and documents land in your library; export briefs and documents as Google Docs Read file info; create files and folders; never shares or deletes

Notion and Slack act as the waper app (pages show waper as the creator, messages show waper as the sender); the Connections page shows when they're available.

Where results go

  • Digests (channel key points, developer brief): saved as a document in your space, plus an inbox item;
  • Important mail: an inbox alert that opens the original email;
  • Meeting briefs: run as a deep research task in the background and saved as a sourced document; the daily number depends on your plan (Free 1, Personal 3, Pro 10), each meeting is prepared once, and again if its time or attendees change;
  • Library imports: searchable and askable in your library; video transcripts and summaries appear when ready;
  • Suggested watches (YouTube subscriptions, GitHub stars): an inbox suggestion you can accept; the watch it creates is private;
  • Exports: an inbox item that opens the page in Notion or Google Docs.

When your agent asks first

  • Reading, saving to your library, and writing your own drafts, calendar events and to-dos happen right away and are recorded; anything undoable comes with Undo.
  • Sending to other people or anything public (email, messages, posts) asks the first time it goes somewhere new. You can tick "Send directly next time".
  • Deleting always asks.
  • Once a turn has read outside content (briefs, library items, email bodies, web pages), any send or delete after that asks first, so instructions hidden in outside content can't decide for you.
  • Changing permissions or settings and payments are not available.

How your data is handled

  • Except Readwise, apps connect through Composio (our subprocessor, which keeps call logs for up to a year); Readwise talks to its official API directly and your token is stored encrypted.
  • waper keeps summaries, key points, titles and other metadata plus links back to the original, never the full text of emails, messages, pages or files; text read to write a brief is discarded afterwards. The exception is videos you have waper transcribe: the transcript and summary are saved in your library.
  • Content from emails and messages is treated as material only; instructions inside it are never followed.

Allowance

Plan Connections Actions a day
Free 5 50
Personal Unlimited 2,000
Pro Unlimited Unlimited

An action is one read or operation your agent or an automatic feature performs in an app. During the beta, actions don't use credits. You can see your usage at the top of the Connections page and in Settings → Connections.

Writing briefs, meeting briefs and transcribing videos use credits for what they actually cost.

Disconnect

Tap Disconnect on the app's page. Your agent loses access right away, the authorization on the app's side is revoked, and automatic features using the app stop. Summaries already saved stay in your library. If a connection stops working (for example you revoked access in the app), your inbox reminds you to reconnect.

Disconnecting also removes the app's triggers and turns off its recipes; generated documents stay too, delete them if you don't need them. You can also revoke access from the app's own "connected apps" page.

The app you want isn't there yet

Search for it on the Connections page. Apps we haven't added yet appear under Not available yet; tap Want this to vote, or submit the name you searched for. We add the most requested apps next.
